Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT), which rose 4.39% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.190 at the close. Meanwhile, Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 3.78% or 0.070 points to end at 1.920 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) was up 3.70% or 0.20 points to 5.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which fell 7.59% or 0.06 points to trade at 0.73 at the close. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) declined 4.98% or 1.13 points to end at 21.75 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was down 4.95% or 0.78 points to 15.01.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 28 to 15 and 52 ended unchanged.
Shares in Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) fell to all time lows; falling 7.59% or 0.06 to 0.73.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 4.09% or 1.83 to $46.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 4.28% or 1.98 to hit $48.23 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.62% or 21.95 to trade at $1334.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.68% to 314.480, while USD/NGN rose 1000.00% to 282.500.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 96.44.
