Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Insurance and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which rose 8.47% or 3.20 points to trade at 41.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) added 1.25% or 0.16 points to end at 13.00 and Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE) was up 1.22% or 9.00 points to 749.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which fell 4.21% or 2.64 points to trade at 60.00 at the close. Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) declined 3.58% or 0.22 points to end at 5.92 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was down 2.17% or 0.020 points to 0.900.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 21 to 14 and 52 ended unchanged.
Shares in Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) fell to all time lows; falling 4.21% or 2.64 to 60.00.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.58% or 0.28 to $47.76 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.18% or 0.09 to hit $50.55 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.31% or 3.85 to trade at $1245.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 2.51% to 339.450, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 316.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 99.55.
