Investing.com – Stocks retreated into the red Wednesday afternoon on a report from The Wall Street Journal that U.S. and China trade talks have stalled over agriculture purchases.

  • President Trump previously said China committed to buying up to $50 billion in U.S. soybeans, pork and other agricultural products as part of a phase one trade agreement. But China is unwilling to quantify its farm purchases, denting hopes that the phase one deal will be signed sooner rather than later, the Journal said, citing sources.

  • China is also resisting U.S. demands to make reforms on forced technology transfer, which the Trump administration has previously said would be addressed in future trade deals with Beijing.

The China trade is the only carrot this realtor in the White House has. He has to drag this out until he believes the time will be right to support the election.

Trump doesn't understand... if he wants China to buy $50B argi, then he has to lift all tarriffs. If he doesn't then of course China will not agreed to buy $50B. Trump needs to do deal like Asians. That means he has to sit down with Xi, bring out the beers, and then talk. That's how it is.

Dow has fake news of peaking up due to Disney news. Remeber Boeing news which has 8.89 weight in Dow whereas Disney has only 3.39. How come it raised Dow so much?

Gee....yesterday Donald said the China trade talks were moving along nicely. In actual fact, he has absolutely no idea how these talks are progressing. Yet one more unfulfilled promise....ACA still strong, no wall paid for by Mexico, never hired the “best” people for cabinet and staff, never proved the 2016 popular vote was corrupt, has no trade deal with China, and I could go on and on and on and on....
