Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Randstad (AS:RAND), which rose 1.13% or 0.53 points to trade at 46.91 at the close. Meanwhile, ASML Holding (AS:ASML) added 1.12% or 0.97 points to end at 87.60 and DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) was up 1.07% or 0.52 points to 48.77 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 2.51% or 0.10 points to trade at 3.80 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 1.09% or 0.18 points to end at 16.71 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was down 0.80% or 0.32 points to 39.14.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 80 to 78 and 15 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.09% to 19.88.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.24% or 0.10 to $41.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.46% or 0.19 to hit $41.73 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.26% or 3.20 to trade at $1247.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1217, while EUR/GBP rose 0.89% to 0.7894.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 95.67.
