Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Healthcare, Support Services and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.97%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Randstad (AMS:RAND), which rose 2.36% or 1.32 points to trade at 57.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Wolters Kluwer (AMS:WLSNc) added 2.18% or 0.68 points to end at 31.70 and Altice SA (AMS:ATCE) was up 2.15% or 2.25 points to 106.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were OCI (AMS:OCI), which fell 1.61% or 0.465 points to trade at 28.490 at the close. Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) declined 0.36% or 0.03 points to end at 8.90 and TNT Express (AMS:TNTE) was down 0.29% or 0.022 points to 7.657.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 184 to 60 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Wolters Kluwer (AMS:WLSNc) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.18% or 0.68 to 31.70. Shares in Altice SA (AMS:ATCE) rose to all time highs; rising 2.15% or 2.25 to 106.80.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 5.23% to 17.33.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 1.65% or 0.83 to $51.25 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 2.89% or 1.60 to hit $57.16 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.65% or 7.80 to trade at $1195.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 1.11% to 1.0660, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.7240.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.96% at 99.20.
