Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which rose 10.03% or 0.37 points to trade at 4.03 at the close. Meanwhile, Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 3.31% or 0.54 points to end at 16.86 and Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) was up 2.45% or 0.81 points to 34.09 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ING Groep NV (AS:ING), which fell 1.97% or 0.225 points to trade at 11.195 at the close. OCI (AS:OCI) declined 1.83% or 0.320 points to end at 17.200 and Ahold Kon (AS:AHLN) was down 1.51% or 0.31 points to 20.29.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 95 to 66 and 14 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 3.10% to 20.52 a new 3-months low.
Crude oil for April delivery was up 3.69% or 1.42 to $39.88 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 2.33% or 0.94 to hit $41.27 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 2.93% or 36.00 to trade at $1265.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.88% to 1.1324, while EUR/GBP fell 0.71% to 0.7815.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.01% at 94.73.
