Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms Services, Materials and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 1.12%.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX), which rose 5.66% or 0.980 points to trade at 18.280 at the close. Meanwhile, Kimberly - Clark De Mexico A (MX:KIMBERA) added 4.38% or 1.490 points to end at 35.470 and Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) was up 4.22% or 2.020 points to 49.920 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX:GFREGIOO), which fell 2.45% or 2.720 points to trade at 108.120 at the close. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) declined 1.54% or 1.260 points to end at 80.560 and Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) was down 1.41% or 3.560 points to 248.130.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 212 to 93 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mexichem, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.22% or 2.020 to 49.920.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.49% or 5.75 to $1175.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.14% or 1.09 to hit $49.84 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $52.99 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.05% to 20.3432, while EUR/MXN rose 0.07% to 21.8799.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 100.28.
