Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Mining and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI fell 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Petronas Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETR), which rose 1.36% or 0.30 points to trade at 22.30 at the close. Meanwhile, British American Tobacco (M) Bhd (KL:BATO) added 0.82% or 0.54 points to end at 66.54 and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) was up 0.81% or 0.05 points to 6.26 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were RHB Capital Bhd (KL:RHBC), which fell 1.75% or 0.14 points to trade at 7.86 at the close. Sapurakencana Petroleum Bhd (KL:SKPE) declined 1.75% or 0.05 points to end at 2.80 and Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM) was down 1.34% or 0.06 points to 4.42.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 64 to 38 and 2 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.36% or 0.20 to $56.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.49% or 0.32 to hit $64.96 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.58% or 6.80 to trade at $1181.80 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.23% to 2.6747, while USD/MYR fell 0.19% to 3.5640.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 97.26.
