On Tuesday, Lightning Emotors Inc (NYSE:ZEV), a manufacturer of electric vehicles for medium-duty applications, announced that its emission-free automobiles have collectively traveled more than five million miles in real-world conditions. Up to this point, Lightning has successfully provided over 600 electric commercial vehicles to a range of recipients, including customers, dealers, and upfitters. These electric vehicles from Lightning are currently in operation at more than 80 fleet depots throughout North America.

The significant mileage accomplishment by Lightning eMotors is gauged using their cutting-edge EV-dedicated telematics platform known as Lightning Insights. Beyond just mileage, this platform monitors an extensive array of over 150 data points, encompassing aspects such as vehicle whereabouts, battery state of charge, energy consumption, effectiveness, vehicle condition, and numerous other metrics.
This latest milestone highlights the substantial investments that Lightning has directed into enhancing quality systems and customer service operations over the last 2 years. Moreover, Lightning's vehicles have effectively offset approximately 9 million pounds of on-road CO2 emissions.
“This milestone demonstrates the impact our commercial EVs can have on the environmental, logistical and financial aspects of our customers’ fleet operations,” said VP of marketing and sales operations, Nick Bettis.

Shares of ZEV are down 2.63% in afternoon trading Tuesday.
