On Tuesday, Lightning Emotors Inc (NYSE:ZEV), a manufacturer of electric vehicles for medium-duty applications, announced that its emission-free automobiles have collectively traveled more than five million miles in real-world conditions. Up to this point, Lightning has successfully provided over 600 electric commercial vehicles to a range of recipients, including customers, dealers, and upfitters. These electric vehicles from Lightning are currently in operation at more than 80 fleet depots throughout North America.

“This isn't the start of our journey,” said CEO Tim Reeser

“Lightning is a pioneer of commercial vehicle electrification, and five million miles is a huge accomplishment and a testament to our status as a mature EV manufacturer deploying meaningful numbers of vehicles into the market.”

The significant mileage accomplishment by Lightning eMotors is gauged using their cutting-edge EV-dedicated telematics platform known as Lightning Insights. Beyond just mileage, this platform monitors an extensive array of over 150 data points, encompassing aspects such as vehicle whereabouts, battery state of charge, energy consumption, effectiveness, vehicle condition, and numerous other metrics.

This latest milestone highlights the substantial investments that Lightning has directed into enhancing quality systems and customer service operations over the last 2 years. Moreover, Lightning's vehicles have effectively offset approximately 9 million pounds of on-road CO2 emissions.

“This milestone demonstrates the impact our commercial EVs can have on the environmental, logistical and financial aspects of our customers’ fleet operations,” said VP of marketing and sales operations, Nick Bettis.

“We’re excited for our employees, partners, investors and customers to ride with us into the next chapter of Lightning eMotors fleet electrification,” added Reeser.
