Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Transport and Trading sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 4.05% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nichirei Corp. (TOKYO:2871), which fell 0.41% or 3.0 points to trade at 724.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:9983) fell 0.72% or 340.0 points to end at 47150.0 and Takashimaya Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:8233) was down 0.95% or 9.0 points to 938.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kobe Steel, Ltd. (TOKYO:5406), which fell 11.11% or 16.0 points to trade at 128.0 at the close. Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:8031) declined 9.55% or 138.5 points to end at 1312.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5707) was down 9.15% or 28.0 points to 278.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1799 to 70 and 1 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 11.14% to 33.81.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.06% or 0.03 to $44.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.31% or 0.14 to hit $47.48 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.38% or 4.30 to trade at $1127.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.43% to 119.41, while EUR/JPY fell 0.19% to 134.59.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 95.91.
