Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Banking and Shipbuilding sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.55%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Haseko Corp (T:1808), which rose 3.90% or 60.00 points to trade at 1600.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:9064) added 2.87% or 75.5 points to end at 2707.0 and Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. (T:8804) was up 1.82% or 30.0 points to 1682.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301), which fell 3.39% or 59.0 points to trade at 1683.0 at the close. TDK Corp. (T:6762) declined 3.27% or 340.0 points to end at 10060.0 and Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043) was down 2.69% or 90.0 points to 3260.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2059 to 1304 and 198 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.33% to 21.08.
Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.08% or 0.05 to $61.24 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $65.15 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1318.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.64% to 105.66, while EUR/JPY fell 0.50% to 130.21.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 89.97.
