Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Transport, Transportation Equipment and Financial Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.87% to hit a new all time high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (TOKYO:4183), which rose 7.52% or 34.0 points to trade at 486.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corp (TOKYO:4188) added 6.35% or 47.6 points to end at 797.3 and Tosoh Corp. (TOKYO:4042) was up 5.68% or 44.0 points to 818.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4005), which fell 4.85% or 38.0 points to trade at 746.0 at the close. Sharp Corp. (TOKYO:6753) declined 1.81% or 3.0 points to end at 163.0 and Kao Corp. (TOKYO:4452) was down 1.73% or 103.0 points to 5835.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1573 to 310.
Shares in Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (TOKYO:4183) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 7.52% or 34.0 to 486.0. Shares in Sharp Corp. (TOKYO:6753) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.81% or 3.0 to 163.0. Shares in Tosoh Corp. (TOKYO:4042) rose to all time highs; up 5.68% or 44.0 to 818.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.15% to 16.84 a new 6-months low.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.26% or 0.15 to $60.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.08% or 0.05 to hit $63.29 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.14% or 1.60 to trade at $1185.70 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.21% to 123.64, while EUR/JPY fell 0.52% to 139.17.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.54% at 95.03.
