Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Banking and Fishery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nichirei Corp. (TOKYO:2871), which rose 5.96% or 47.0 points to trade at 836.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4519) added 5.13% or 200.0 points to end at 4100.0 and Yokogawa Electric Corp. (TOKYO:6841) was up 4.69% or 71.0 points to 1586.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nippon Kayaku Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4272), which fell 2.06% or 29.0 points to trade at 1379.0 at the close. Itochu Corp. (TOKYO:8001) declined 2.00% or 33.5 points to end at 1645.5 and Okuma Corp. (TOKYO:6103) was down 2.00% or 28.0 points to 1375.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1320 to 563.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.79% to 17.57.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.29% or 0.17 to $60.15 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.51% or 0.32 to hit $63.34 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.46% or 5.50 to trade at $1196.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.10% to 122.83, while EUR/JPY rose 0.40% to 139.85.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 94.10.
