Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Rubber and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:5233), which rose 4.51% or 16.0 points to trade at 370.5 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202) added 4.27% or 33.0 points to end at 805.0 and Tokyo Electron Ltd. (T:8035) was up 4.10% or 485.0 points to 12300.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Toshiba Corp. (T:6502), which fell 5.82% or 12.8 points to trade at 207.0 at the close. Fujifilm Holdings Corp. (T:4901) declined 4.04% or 168.0 points to end at 3987.0 and Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T:6506) was down 2.91% or 60.0 points to 2003.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2287 to 764 and 281 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.05% to 20.91.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.06% or 0.03 to $50.74 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.11% or 0.06 to hit $53.05 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.10% or 1.30 to trade at $1282.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.17% to 109.13, while EUR/JPY fell 0.18% to 116.98.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 99.69.
