Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Retail, Railway & Bus and Transport sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.83%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dentsu Inc. (TOKYO:4324), which rose 13.65% or 740.0 points to trade at 6160.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Marui Group Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:8252) added 5.20% or 72.0 points to end at 1457.0 and Kao Corp. (TOKYO:4452) was up 4.75% or 258.0 points to 5687.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nikon Corp. (TOKYO:7731), which fell 10.96% or 188.0 points to trade at 1527.0 at the close. Sharp Corp. (TOKYO:6753) declined 7.00% or 14.0 points to end at 186.0 and SUMCO Corp. (TOKYO:3436) was down 5.79% or 108.0 points to 1756.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 383 to 212.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.44% to 17.71 a new 6-months low.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.11% or 0.07 to $59.81 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $66.72 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.40% or 4.90 to trade at $1220.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.24% to 119.44, while EUR/JPY rose 0.17% to 136.18.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 93.47.
