Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Marine Transport and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:5714), which rose 5.60% or 40.0 points to trade at 754.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Yokogawa Electric Corp. (T:6841) added 3.59% or 51.0 points to end at 1473.0 and Asahi Kasei Corp. (T:3407) was up 3.20% or 26.7 points to 860.1 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (T:9501), which fell 7.89% or 33.0 points to trade at 385.5 at the close. Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (T:7003) declined 2.03% or 3.0 points to end at 145.0 and Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. (T:5002) was down 1.95% or 19.0 points to 955.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1841 to 1031 and 410 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.55% to 19.90.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.46% or 0.23 to $50.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.40% or 0.21 to hit $51.74 a barrel, while the December Gold contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $1255.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.04% to 104.12, while EUR/JPY rose 0.05% to 114.43.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.97.
