Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Transport, Insurance and Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (T:6302), which rose 5.23% or 29.0 points to trade at 583.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Nikon Corp. (T:7731) added 3.84% or 61.0 points to end at 1648.0 and Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (T:9501) was up 3.67% or 15.0 points to 423.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Meidensha Corp. (T:6508), which fell 7.95% or 28.0 points to trade at 324.0 at the close. Panasonic Corp. (T:6752) declined 6.71% or 73.7 points to end at 1025.0 and Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (T:4183) was down 5.02% or 26.0 points to 491.5.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1463 to 1427 and 406 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.41% to 19.58.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.49% or 0.23 to $47.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.84% or 0.41 to hit $49.02 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.59% or 7.45 to trade at $1280.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.10% to 104.93, while EUR/JPY fell 0.01% to 115.11.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 98.39.
