Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Utilities, Technology and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 rose 1.57%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Prysmian (MI:PRY), which rose 6.45% or 1.19 points to trade at 19.64 at the close. Meanwhile, Banca Mediolanum SpA (MI:BMED) added 5.23% or 0.305 points to end at 6.135 and Buzzi Unicem (MI:BZU) was up 5.09% or 0.76 points to 15.68 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Luxottica Group (MI:LUX), which fell 4.40% or 2.01 points to trade at 43.64 at the close. Mediaset (MI:MS) declined 3.27% or 0.106 points to end at 3.132 and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) was down 2.44% or 0.0095 points to 0.3792.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 262 to 138 and 28 ended unchanged.
Shares in Luxottica Group (MI:LUX) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.40% or 2.01 to 43.64. Shares in Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) fell to all time lows; down 2.44% or 0.0095 to 0.3792.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.19% or 1.09 to $48.79 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 2.32% or 1.19 to hit $50.13 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.63% or 8.40 to trade at $1318.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.49% to 1.1069, while EUR/GBP rose 0.69% to 0.8343.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 96.22.
