Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB gained 2.21%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were CNH Industrial NV (MILAN:CNHI), which rose 4.89% or 0.400 points to trade at 8.580 at the close. Meanwhile, UBI Banca (MILAN:UBI) added 4.59% or 0.330 points to end at 7.525 and Mediaset (MILAN:MS) was up 4.13% or 0.178 points to 4.490 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which fell 1.90% or 0.18 points to trade at 9.29 at the close. Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) declined 0.50% or 0.06 points to end at 12.02 and Tod'S (MILAN:TOD) was down 0.23% or 0.20 points to 85.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 376 to 86 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in CNH Industrial NV (MILAN:CNHI) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.89% or 0.400 to 8.580.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 3.08% or 1.83 to $57.64 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.58% or 1.00 to hit $62.59 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.18% or 2.10 to trade at $1169.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.53% to 1.1083, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.7098.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.54% at 96.27.
