Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Media, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 3.01% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Attica Bank (AT:BOAr), which rose 30.00% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.065 at the close. Meanwhile, Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr) added 14.11% or 0.057 points to end at 0.461 and Gek Terna (AT:HRMr) was up 13.58% or 0.22 points to 1.84 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sarantiseg (AT:SRSr), which fell 4.88% or 0.39 points to trade at 7.61 at the close. Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) declined 3.94% or 0.013 points to end at 0.317 and Euro Reliance (AT:EREr) was down 2.10% or 0.03 points to 1.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 64 to 21 and 1 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.67% or 8.00 to $1182.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.40% or 1.46 to hit $59.47 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 2.16% or 1.47 to trade at $66.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.66% to 1.1275, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7413.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.59% at 94.75.
