Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Utilities and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 1.71% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Hygeia (AT:HYGr), which rose 6.79% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.236 at the close. Meanwhile, Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) added 6.63% or 0.037 points to end at 0.595 and Fourlis Hld (AT:FRLr) was up 6.51% or 0.270 points to 4.420 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Revoil Petrol (AT:REVr), which fell 4.43% or 0.016 points to trade at 0.345 at the close. Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) declined 2.10% or 0.0180 points to end at 0.8400 and Select Textile (AT:EPIr) was down 1.08% or 0.002 points to 0.184.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 72 to 27 and 18 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hygeia (AT:HYGr) rose to 52-week highs; rising 6.79% or 0.015 to 0.236.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.75% or 9.40 to $1244.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $53.99 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $56.54 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.0560, while EUR/GBP rose 0.40% to 0.8576.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 101.66.
