Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Chemicals, Banking and Household sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 1.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which rose 29.68% or 0.2060 points to trade at 0.9000 at the close. Meanwhile, Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) added 9.43% or 0.0150 points to end at 0.1740 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) was up 6.47% or 0.009 points to 0.148 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr), which fell 6.98% or 0.012 points to trade at 0.170 at the close. Iaso (AT:IASr) declined 5.43% or 0.025 points to end at 0.435 and Hygeia (AT:HYGr) was down 5.37% or 0.008 points to 0.141.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 57 to 35 and 19 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.78% or 23.25 to $1281.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.64% or 0.28 to hit $44.35 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $45.60 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.92% to 1.1037, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8903.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.92% at 97.83.
