Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 1.58%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Danone SA (EPA:DANO), which rose 1.66% or 0.99 points to trade at 60.56 at the close. Meanwhile, Orange SA (EPA:ORAN) added 1.22% or 0.13 points to end at 10.62 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) was up 1.20% or 1.09 points to 91.98 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO), which fell 9.90% or 1.21 points to trade at 10.97 at the close. LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) declined 3.82% or 27.60 points to end at 695.40 and Teleperformance SE (EPA:TEPRF) was down 3.75% or 5.00 points to 128.30.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (EPA:GTT) which rose 3.73% to 125.00, Danone SA (EPA:DANO) which was up 1.66% to settle at 60.56 and La Francaise Des Jeux Sa (EPA:FDJ) which gained 1.51% to close at 33.68.
The worst performers were Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) which was down 9.90% to 10.97 in late trade, Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) which lost 6.66% to settle at 14.51 and Elior Group (EPA:ELIOR) which was down 6.12% to 2.67 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 374 to 137 and 95 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.63% or 33.85 to $2,039.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 2.93% or 2.06 to hit $72.44 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.71% or 2.06 to trade at $77.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.37% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.48% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 102.32.
