Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.27%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY), which rose 3.68% or 3.48 points to trade at 97.97 at the close. Meanwhile, Thales (EPA:TCFP) added 1.19% or 1.60 points to end at 135.75 and Vinci SA (EPA:SGEF) was up 1.00% or 1.06 points to 107.12 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which fell 3.76% or 1.38 points to trade at 35.49 at the close. Legrand SA (EPA:LEGD) declined 2.33% or 2.12 points to end at 88.84 and Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) was down 2.30% or 0.36 points to 15.39.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which rose 12.32% to 7.62, Neoen SA (EPA:NEOEN) which was up 4.33% to settle at 30.38 and Sanofi SA (EPA:SASY) which gained 3.68% to close at 97.97.
The worst performers were Valeo SA (EPA:VLOF) which was down 4.73% to 19.94 in late trade, Orpea SA (EPA:ORP) which lost 4.60% to settle at 2.08 and Forvia (EPA:FRVIA) which was down 4.19% to 21.26 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 317 to 208 and 89 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.13% or 22.35 to $1,948.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.90% or 1.37 to hit $70.56 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.10% or 0.84 to trade at $75.25 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 102.14.
