Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Industrials and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.69%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4), which rose 4.77% or 0.53 points to trade at 11.63 at the close. Meanwhile, Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) added 3.51% or 0.22 points to end at 6.49 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was up 1.57% or 0.21 points to 13.61 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which fell 3.31% or 1.06 points to trade at 30.92 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) declined 3.23% or 0.70 points to end at 21.00 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) was down 3.15% or 1.24 points to 38.12.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 243 to 153 and 29 ended unchanged.
Shares in CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.77% or 0.53 to 11.63. Shares in Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.51% or 0.22 to 6.49.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.94% to 31.69.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.88% or 10.75 to $1214.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.13% or 0.07 to hit $53.13 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.61% or 0.86 to trade at $140.62 .
USD/BRL was down 0.64% to 3.1185, while EUR/BRL fell 0.79% to 3.2957.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 101.80.
