Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumption, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which rose 5.65% or 0.70 points to trade at 13.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) added 4.39% or 0.65 points to end at 15.45 and BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3) was up 3.69% or 0.40 points to 11.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which fell 4.89% or 0.76 points to trade at 14.79 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE5) declined 4.12% or 1.08 points to end at 25.15 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) was down 3.96% or 0.20 points to 4.85.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 188 to 143 and 31 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.11% to 38.52.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.46% or 5.35 to $1160.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $52.81 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $142.68 .
USD/BRL was down 0.11% to 3.3359, while EUR/BRL fell 0.22% to 3.5442.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 101.07.
