Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Construction & Materials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.46%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ), which rose 1.36% or 0.23 points to trade at 16.96 at the close. Meanwhile, Elia (BRU:ELI) added 0.23% or 0.085 points to end at 36.855 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BRU:COFB) was up 0.17% or 0.16 points to 93.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB), which fell 1.65% or 0.42 points to trade at 25.41 at the close. DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB) declined 1.41% or 0.460 points to end at 32.115 and Umicore NV (BRU:UMI) was down 1.32% or 0.57 points to 43.01.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 116 to 51 and 8 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.49% or 5.70 to $1163.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.90% or 0.51 to hit $57.47 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.58 to trade at $62.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1094, while EUR/GBP rose 0.37% to 0.7104.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 96.22.
