Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.82%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were ING Groep NV (AS:ING), which rose 2.65% or 0.270 points to trade at 10.470 at the close. Meanwhile, Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 2.36% or 0.980 points to end at 42.590 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 1.60% or 0.70 points to 44.52 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB), which fell 0.67% or 0.75 points to trade at 110.50 at the close. Elia (BR:ELI) declined 0.28% or 0.130 points to end at 45.730 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was down 0.21% or 0.06 points to 28.48.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 83 to 58 and 14 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.37% or 4.65 to $1261.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.49% or 1.08 to hit $44.52 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.83% or 1.67 to trade at $45.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.03% to 1.1385, while EUR/GBP fell 0.24% to 0.7880.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 94.17.
