Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Discretionary, Consumer Staples and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Bapcor Ltd (ASX:BAP), which rose 4.98% or 0.22 points to trade at 4.64 at the close. Meanwhile, IPH Ltd (ASX:IPH) added 3.44% or 0.20 points to end at 6.02 and Nuix Ltd (ASX:NXL) was up 3.42% or 0.08 points to 2.42 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fletcher Building Ltd (ASX:FBU), which fell 10.56% or 0.34 points to trade at 2.88 at the close. Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:OBL) declined 10.56% or 0.10 points to end at 0.81 and Westgold Resources Ltd (ASX:WGX) was down 4.05% or 0.09 points to 2.13.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 702 to 498 and 453 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fletcher Building Ltd (ASX:FBU) fell to 5-year lows; falling 10.56% or 0.34 to 2.88. Shares in Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:OBL) fell to 5-year lows; down 10.56% or 0.10 to 0.81. Shares in Nuix Ltd (ASX:NXL) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.42% or 0.08 to 2.42.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.33% to 10.85.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.70% or 16.65 to $2,358.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.12% or 0.09 to hit $78.17 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.16% or 0.13 to trade at $82.66 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.05% to 0.66, while AUD/JPY unchanged 0.00% to 102.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 105.18.
