Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) announced Friday that David Clark, CEO of Worldwide Consumer, is resigning from the company, effective July 1, 2022.

Clark has been with the tech giant for 23 years, having joined its Operations Pathways Program in May 1999.

Amazon hasn't yet named a replacement for Clark but said they will be ready with an update "over the next few weeks."

"The past few years have been among the most challenging and unpredictable we’ve faced in the history of Amazon’s Consumer business, and I’m particularly appreciative of Dave’s leadership during that time," said Amazon CEO Andy Jassy.

Clark started as an Amazon Operations Manager in Kentucky before becoming a General Manager in the Northeast, then leading Worldwide Operations, and then eventually leading the company's Worldwide Consumer division.

"While change is never easy, I’m optimistic about the plan that the Consumer team has built and have confidence that if we stay focused on executing it, we’ll deliver the right experiences for customers and results for the business,” he added.

Clark's departure comes just a few days after Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) COO Sheryl Sandberg announced her departure from the social media company after 14 years.

Amazon stock has declined 3% Friday.
