Investing.com - The U.S. House of Representatives voted to impeach President Donald Trump Wednesday. The vote was expected and had little effect on the financial markets. But trading had been fairly quiet during the regular session in anticipation of any vote in Congress.

- The Democratic-led House voted along party lines (230 to 197 with 1 voting present) in favor of the first article of impeachment: abuse of power.

- It also voted (229 to 198 with 1 present) to impeach the president on the second article: obstruction of Congress.

- It remains unlikely Trump will be removed from office by the Republican-led Senate.

- S&P 500 Futures were flat. The dollar index was also flat and the 10-year yield was at 1.906%.

I generally lean toward republican yet I voted for Obama. I think Obama is a 'nice guy' but was rather milquetoast as a President. Trump is five times the President Obama was. Trump should not have done all these tarriffs and economy would have been much stronger. Now he has to fight an economy that is about to enter recession and also facing impeachment. That will be a big hit for him. I don't think he can last until November 2020.

The democrats have no choice but to run the democratic impeachment because they already wasted the taxpayers’ money during the three year witch hunt. They have nothing to show so they have to impeach even if they know Trump will be aquitted in a bi-partisan Senate trial. It’s really sad. I say this with a heavy heart. LOL
You should read about our impeachment process... but the short answer is that removing a president for alleged crimes happens in multiple stages... not just in one pass.  The Democrats (his opposition) control the House of Representatives; they passed articles of impeachment that all House Republicans voted against... now that they passed articles of impeachment, those will be sent to the Senate, which is controlled by Trump's own party... so this impeachment is not expected to clear the Senate; where a 2/3 majority would be needed to remove him.  The Democrats do NOT have the votes... So removal is NOT expected to happen, at all... The immature House Democrats are basically just throwing a hissy fit, but the Senate is expected to slam the  door in the face of their claims.
0 chance he gets removed as the repo senate won't even have a real trial. They should call all the witnesses that Trump obstructed from testifying to the house judicial committee. The real shame is the repos standing lock step with Trump in obstructing Congress from following the Constitution. Hopefully the Chief Justice will stop the repo effort and conduct a real trial.
