The markets continue to perform as if gross domestic product (GDP) is higher than it really is, analysts said, based on optimism over expected forthcoming tax cuts, deregulatory measures, and job enhancing policies by President-elect Donald Trump.
For instance, Trump announced that Japan's Softbank Corp. (T:9984) was planning to invest $50 billion in the U.S. and create tens of thousands of new jobs after a meeting in New York City with the CEO today. The announcement was made by the president-elect on Twitter.
