NHL roundup: Mantha scores all 4 goals in Wings win

Anthony Mantha scored all four of the Detroit Red Wings goals, including the game-winner in the final minute, as his team won its home opener 4-3 over the Dallas Stars on Sunday.

Mantha, who had one career hat trick prior to the game, became the first Red Wings player to score four times in a game since Johan Franzen had five goals in 2011. Mantha also scored in Detroit's season-opening win in Nashville on Saturday.

Mantha scored with 54 seconds to go when he took a pass from Filip Hronek and his shot deflected off a Dallas defenseman and past goaltender Anton Khudobin.

Jonathan Bernier made 19 saves, including a pad save in the closing seconds against Alexander Radulov to preserve the victory.

Hurricanes 4, Lightning 3 (OT)

Jaccob Slavin's second goal of the season provided Carolina with its third come-from-behind victory as the Hurricanes overcame Tampa Bay at Raleigh, N.C.

Slavin, a defenseman, scored 1:53 into the extra session off an assist from captain Jordan Staal. Brett Pesce, Erik Haula and Dougie Hamilton scored for Carolina, which faced a 3-1 deficit. Andrei Svechnikov and Teuvo Teravainen each notched two assists.

The Hurricanes rallied to win their first two games of the season, including in overtime Saturday night at Washington. Carolina is 3-0-0 with every game extended beyond regulation. A defenseman provided the winning tally each time.

Islanders 4, Jets 1

Josh Bailey scored the first of the Islanders' three consecutive second-period goals as host New York defeated Winnipeg in Uniondale, N.Y.

Goalie Thomas Greiss recorded 35 saves in his season debut.
