Investing.com - A majority of Americans are expecting a recession within the next year, according to a new poll from Washington Post-ABC News amid widespread concerns over the Sino-U.S. trade war.

  • Six in ten respondents say a recessions is “very likely” or “somewhat likely” in the next year

  • That's also affecting President Donald Trump's approval ratings: 43% say Trump's trade and economic policies have increased the chances of recession

  • 56% of Americans rate the economy as “excellent’ or ‘good”, down from 65% in November

  • Trump’s approval rating among voting age Americans has fallen to 38%, from 44% in June
