Investing.com -- Republican leaders on Congress announced the appointment of Keith Hall to serve as the director of the Congressional Budget Office on Friday.
Hall, a former Chief Economist for the White House Council of Economic Advisers under George W. Bush, succeeds Doug Elmendorf, who has run the office since 2009.
Hall has previously served in leadership and management positions in the United States Treasury, the International Trade Commission, the Department of Commerce and served as the 13th Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
"He has dedicated his career to managing teams focused on strengthening the economy by providing policy makers and the public with superior economic analysis and information," said Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY), Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee.
Hall is expected to handle Republican-drafted proposals to revise President Barack Obama's landmark health care law.
