Investing.com - Euro zone consumer prices accelerated in June, according to a final estimate released on Wednesday.
The bloc’s statistics agency Eurostat said its final reading of the consumer price index rose by an annual 2% in June, up from 1.9% in May, confirming a preliminary estimate.
The highest contribution to the annual euro area inflation rate came from energy costs, followed by services and food, alcohol and tobacco prices.
Core inflation, which excludes energy and food prices, rose by an annual rate of 0.9%, the report said.
The lowest annual inflation rates were registered in Ireland, Greece and Denmark, where annual inflation rose by 0.7%, 1% and 1.1% respectively.
The highest annual rates were recorded in Romania, Estonia and Hungary, Eurostat said.
The European Central Bank targets a headline inflation rate of close to, but just below 2%.
