Two Mafia Metaverses with Similar Names Found Each Other and Rebranded. Even Tarantino Appeared in This Story

Recently, an unexpectedly tangled mess of confusion was discovered in the crypto gaming industry, and has now been unraveled. Two mafia style metaverse games with almost identical titles, have existed in the space for quite some time, though they are unrelated: ‘Sin City‘ and ‘Syn City‘. The situation becomes even more odd when you consider neo-noir crime movie ‘Sin City‘ directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez with Quentin Tarantino as a special guest director.

First of all, Frank Miller, who is also the author of original eponymous comic book series, still owns all the rights for the name and universe after regaining them in 2018. Moreover, the licensing for game right to the title was acquired by Red Mile Entertainment back in 2007. Furthermore, Frank Miller already appeared in the crypto world releasing an exclusive Sin City NFT collection of 10 pieces, together with Gala Labs and Concept Art House.

It seems that neither of the developers of the aforementioned games mentioned seemed to take much notice of these facts though.

Now, however, both of the teams behind each game have announced separate rebrands in order to avoid confusion. The game formerly known as ‘Sin City‘ will henceforth be known by the name ‘Sinverse’, while ‘Syn City‘ becomes ‘Mobland.’ The first company announced the change in a recent post on their blog, whilst Syn City didn’t specifically announce anything, but rather changed their entire whitepaper. It should be noted though that the trailer used there still features the project’s old name.

Interestingly enough, both games’ webpages are still going by their now defunct names. Of course, an official name change is not a quick or easy process, but they should definitely speed things up before Frank Miller notices they’re using his brand!
