The most advanced hacktivist group of the world, Anonymous, announced their newest target. The most successful NFT project of all time, Bored Apes Yacht Club powered by Yuga Labs is on the radar for allegedly using racist, satanic, fascistic and even paedophilia-related symbolism in the digital art.

Despite being one of the most adopted NFT collections in the world, BAYC had Nazi symbolism rumors surrounding the project for a while now. The dramatic message from the Anonymous hacktivists doesn’t necessarily translate to a threat for the BAYC NFT enthusiasts, as the man in the video expressed empathy towards the innocent owners of the NFT art.

However, Anonymous made a strong point that none of the ongoing accusations were refuted, stating: ‘As we navigate through the curated research that openly ties the artwork to these accusations, we can’t help but wonder why none of these accusations have actually been put to rest’. What this means is that a research on these accusations is inevitable and could take ‘months and months’.

Mixed Reaction From Crypto Community

Despite the video making waves online, many crypto enthusiasts tend to believe the video is fake. Firstly, the video message was uploaded from a different Anonymous account. Secondly, the Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) account is not verified and only has around 14K followers.

One self-proclaimed member of the Anonymous Group, ‘nxg4n’, has fired back at the allegations of the video not being real. ‘Whatever your narrative is. Whatever your spin is. Whatever you need to tell yourself. It doesn’t matter. Because we’ve already gotten what we wanted.’, – reads the hacktivist’s tweet.

Ultimately, the people on Twitter suspiciously looking at this video do have a fair point. When Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24th, a counterfeit video calling out the citizens of Russia surfaced. Even though the fraudsters did a pretty good job on mimicking the real Anonymous, the video was deemed as fake a couple of days later.
