Investment Strategy
The investment seeks to provide investors the opportunity to participate in the investment characteristics of gold for a portion of their overall investment portfolio. To achieve its objective of providing investors the opportunity to participate in the investment characteristics of gold, the fund invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in gold and/or securities directly related to gold or issuers principally engaged in the gold industry, including securities of gold mining finance companies as well as operating companies with long-, medium- or short-life mines. The fund is non-diversified.

Matt started his career in 1991 in Brisbane, Australia, with the Queensland Investment Corporation and was ultimately responsible for the firm’s international equity exposure. He was born in Rabaul, Papua New Guinea, and grew up in Queensland, Australia. He received his bachelor of commerce with first-class honors and master of international commercial law from the University of Queensland, and he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Matt is interested in the field of education, and he is a trustee (and former president of the Board of Trustees) of the Trinity School in New York City. He serves on the Board of Dean’s Advisors of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and as a board member of the University of Queensland in the United States of America. | Biography | Jean-Marie Eveillard is Senior Adviser to the First Eagle Investment Management, LLC Global Value and International Value strategies. He started his career in 1962 with Société Générale before relocating to the United States in 1968. Two years later, Jean-Marie began as an analyst with the SoGen International Fund. In 1979, he was appointed Portfolio Manager of the SoGen International Fund, later named the First Eagle Global Fund. From 1993–2004, Jean-Marie was the Lead Portfolio Manager for all of ASB’s Global Value strategies. He left these duties on December 31, 2004 but continued to serve as a Senior Adviser to the Global Value team, and returned as Lead Portfolio Manager and head of the team in 2007 and part of 2008, until Matt McLennan became head of the team in September 2008. Jean-Marie became a Senior Adviser to the Global Value team in March 2009. Jean-Marie was named Morningstar’s International Manager of the Year in 2001, and in 2003 received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Morningstar for building one of the most successful long-term records in the investment business. Born in Poitiers, France in 1940, he is a graduate of Écoles des Hautes Études Commerciales, a French graduate school for economic studies. | ||

| Biography | Simon Fenwick is a Founding Partner of International Value Advisers, LLC and serves as a Research Analyst for the firm. He also was responsible for supervising analyst and trading functions, monitoring tax and regulatory issues affecting the fund, and performing external fund marketing. In addition to co-managing the Gold Fund, Simon was a Senior Analyst for the value funds, including the First Eagle Overseas, Global, and U.S. Value Funds as well as the offshore funds including the Sofire Fund Ltd. He was responsible for covering the Industrial, Food and Beverage, and Mining and Utility sectors on a global basis. He also oversaw research of a number of smaller Japanese equities; many of these positions were subsequently sold having reached their intrinsic values. Prior to joining the First Eagle Funds, Simon worked for 10 years as an investment analyst in both Australia and the United Kingdom, covering the mining and industrial sectors. Simon has Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from the University of Queensland and completed his post-graduate studies with the Securities Institute of Australia. | Biography | Charles de Vaulx joined the International Value Advisers, LLC in 2008 as a partner and portfolio manager.
