I am curious to see who are those buyers that are willing to pay $10K for cocoa as it's getting close to settlement for May contract. I gotta post this again. I never belived those chart index. Here is what I believe: The price for a pack of popular cocoa powder (35 ounce) is $19.99 on US Amazon, while the delivery cost, storage cost and referral fee included in this price is over $10.97 charged by Amazon, which means the seller will lose money if he bought cocoa powder higher than $9.02 ($9.09 / KG). So the only chance these sellers can make money is that the cocoa's price must be lower than at least $5K / Metric Ton since there are other costs like shipping, grinding and tax. I believe you guys are smart enough to do this calculus.

Spot price has reached above $10000 / Mton in western africa, so there are must other factors to explain Cocoa powder prices selling in Amazon.

Most companies procure with annual contracts based on annual volume estimates. They only procure additional growth on spot market. Most annual contracts are based on year end prices which was less than 5000usd on january 2024

You are right. But you have to take a look at the volume of the cocoa traded at this price. Current aggregate Cocoa Futures Open Interest is only 142 K. The lowest since 2011.

Like I said earlier the all time highs are in. When spread between front and back months narrow that is bearish. The last shorts got squeezed last week when speculators bought the cheaper back months and they made new highs. Everyday CNBC talks about cocoa. When CNBC talks about a market everyday after a 500% runup you know a bubble has formed. For anyone who is stuck being long you can sell calls against your position due to the high premiums.

Long opportunity when gap down or go down during the day, since it has been down 28% fron all time high level without fundamental change. High possibility— not sure thing.

Last Thursday, when we had a rally up, everything was going swell until a huge bearish candle killed all my SLs and I lost. It came from out of nowhere. On h4 timeframe, we are now at the bottom of the uptrend from the beginning of the year. From this moment on, I guess IA bots will dump a fortune on this commodity again. Hope I can catch the wave and leave before it comes crashing down again.

I am agreeing with you, I also don't see a reversal... yet. And from fundamentals, don't expect one. I think this is a good spot to leave a buy position (with an SL right under the trend line) and just forget about it. Unless... the next liquidation extravaganza gets even wilder.

it broke the uptrend line that started on the 8th of March, but that was a short term trend, the medium term trend from January is still unbroken. Now, let's see if it breaks, but I doubt it, fundamentals have not changed, a coacoa tree takes 5 years to mature, so ... I expect this to go really crazy up, not even curbed demand will stop it, people need chocolate, I need chocolate. It will become a luxuary, but people will still buy, no matter how expensive it gets. First, shrinkflation, then, 5 dollars a bar. In the meantime, farmers will get incentives, and maybe, just maybe, next years crop will be free of disease and gold diggers. Unfortunately, climate won't get any better, so, yes, cocoa will soar up and up and up.

One of my comments today said use SL!!!!! Did you ask what level you should set it to? NO! Everyone has to set it themselves, according to their capital!! That's it. One time something goes wrong and you are immediately the laughing stock and so many bad comments about my person. So you know what, I'm coughing on you!!! You made your decision, you are responsible for it. I'll never change people anyway. Goodbye!
