US stock futures are higher this morning. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 83 points to 12,393.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 8.30 points to 1,308.60. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 17 points to 2,527.00.
US stocks closed lower on Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropping 1.14% to 12,411.23, the S&P 500 index declining 1.26% to 1,308.93 and the Nasdaq 100 index falling 1.70% to 2,809.73.
Data on May import prices will be released at 8:30 a.m. ET. However, the Federal Budget will be released at 2 p.m. ET.
Casey's General Stores Inc (NASDAQ: CASY) is estimated to post its Q4 earnings at $0.67 per share on revenue of $1.74 billion. FactSet Research Systems Inc (NYSE: FDS) is expected to report its Q3 earnings at $1.04 per share on sales of $202.9 million.
Lentuo International Inc (NYSE: LAS) is projected to post its Q1 EPS at $0.08 on revenue of $119.70 million. Michael Kors Holding Ltd (NYSE: KORS) is estimated to report its FQ4 earnings at $0.16 per share on revenue of $360.9 million.
Texas Instruments Inc (NASDAQ: TXN) narrowed its forecast for the second quarter.
Juniper Networks Inc (NYSE: JNPR) approved a plan to buy back up to $1 billion of its own stock.
European markets were higher today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index gained 0.41%, London's FTSE 100 Index gained 0.51%, French CAC 40 index rose 0.53% and German DAX 30 index gained 0.83%.
Asian markets ended mostly lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 1.02%, Chinese Shanghai Composite falling 0.70% and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rising 0.17%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index tumbled 0.43% and India's Sensex rose 1.17%.
Crude oil for July delivery dropped $0.52 to $82.18 a barrel. However, gold for August delivery declined $6.50 to $1,590.30.
The euro gained 0.31% versus the dollar to trade at $1.2521, up from $1.2491 late in North American trade on Monday.
