Stewart Enterprises, Inc., through its subsidiaries, provides funeral and cemetery products and services in the death care industry. It offers a range of funeral and cremation merchandise and services, as well as cemetery property, merchandise, and services. The company’s funeral homes provide various services and products, including family consultation, removal and preparation of remains, the use of funeral home facilities for visitation, worship and funeral services, transportation services, flowers, and caskets. It also sells cemetery property and related merchandise comprising lots, lawn crypts, family and community mausoleums, monuments, markers, and burial vaults; and offers burial site openings and closings, and inscriptions. In addition, the company provides cremation memorialization options, such as columbariums, cremation niches, and cremation gardens; and maintains cemetery grounds under cemetery perpetual care contracts and local laws. As of October 31, 2011, it owned and operated 218 funeral homes and 141 cemeteries in 24 states in the United States and in Puerto Rico. The company founded in 1910 and is headquartered in Jefferson, Louisiana.
