This morning, the S&P 500 Index e-mini futures (ES-H3) are trading higher by just 0.50 points to $1513.00 per contract. Many institutional traders and investors are still snowed in from the massive storm that hit the New England area of the United States this weekend. Parts of Connecticut and Massachusetts received over 30 inches of snow. This storm could cause lighter trading volume in the stock market today. Monday's are notoriously a light volume trading session already.
Gold and gold mining stocks are all falling ahead of the opening bell. Some leading gold mining stocks that are coming under early selling pressure include Newmont Mining Corp (NYSE:NEM), Barrick Gold Corp (NYSE:ABX), Goldcorp Inc (USA) (NYSE:GG), and Yamana Gold Inc. (USA) (NYSE:AUY). All of these leading gold mining stocks are still signaling weakness on the daily charts.
