Crude oil futures added to losses on Wednesday, after data showed that oil product supplies in the U.S. rose sharply last week, underlining concerns over weak demand. Crude oil for delivery shed 53 cents, to trade at $38.80 a barrel during U.S. morning hours. Prices were at around $39.30 prior to the release of the inventory data.

Gold prices fell to the lowest levels of the session on Wednesday, after data showed that U.S. durable goods orders rose unexpectedly in July, boosting optimism over the health of the economy and supporting the case for a U.S. interest rate hike this year. Gold futures for December delivery slumped $14.20, to trade at $1,124.
