This morning, the S&P 500 Index e-mini futures (ES-U3) are trading higher by 9.50 points to 1605.00 per contract. Once again, the stock futures are trading higher ahead of the opening bell. It seems that a more stable Chinese stock market and lower bond yields on the 10-year U.S. Treasury Note are helping to put a bid under the market. This tells us that bond yields are probably going to be the most important thing to watch throughout the trading session.
Last night, most of the leading Asian stock markets rallied higher. The Nikkei 225 Index (Japan), and the Bombay Sensex Index (India) were the leaders. This tells us that the Japanese and Indian ADR's could be strong today if the U.S. markets are strong. Traders can watch for early strength in equities such as the iShares MSCI Japan Index (ETF) (EWJ), WisdomTree Japan Hedged Equity Fund (DXJ), and The India Fund Inc (IFN).
