The official earnings season begins next week with Alcoa (NYSE:AA) keeping up its tradition as the first company to report. Alcoa is expected to report a profit of just 0.06 cents per share. Estimates ahead of Alcoa's release have declined by 22.2 percent in the last three months.
In the attached PDF containing earnings estimates and dates it looks like Monsanto (NYSE:MON) and Apollo Group (NASDAQ:APOL) are reporting before Alcoa. However, those two releases are not part of the official earnings season that kicks off on Tuesday as their releases relate to a different reporting period.
The next interesting name is on Friday when Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC) reports earnings. Here the optimism is more profound with EPS expected to climb 22.6 percent from last year. Estimates are flat over the last three months.
