In a bid to expand its operations, Atlanta, GA-based Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) recently announced the launch of a nonstop flight between Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport (GIG) in Rio de Janeiro and New York‘s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The service will commence on Dec 21, 2017.

As a result of Delta’s alliance with GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes (NYSE:GOL) , the service will be extended to 23 destinations within Brazil. Meanwhile, Delta will cover 49 U.S. destinations beyond its hub at New York‘s JFK.

The route between GIG and JFK will be served by Boeing’s 767-400 aircraft which is equipped with modern facilities to improve the flying experience of passengers. The aircraft offers large-sized personal entertainment screens allowing passengers to experience the on-demand audio/video in-flight entertainment system. The 246-passenger aircraft also includes several other modern amenities like 28 Delta Comfort+ seats and 178 seats in the Main Cabin. The new flights are currently available for booking at the official website of Delta.

Delta is constantly making efforts to expand its operations. To this end, the carrier recently announced plans to add three daily flights to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport (ORD) from Seattle. The new flights will be available from Jun 19.
