The week’s biggest mover on the weekly Renewables MMI® was the price of Chinese steel plate, which saw a 4.6 percent increase. This comes on the heels of a 1.8 percent decline the week prior.
The price of Chinese cobalt cathodes rose 0.2 percent after falling 3.1 percent during the previous week. Following a steady week, prices for silicon closed flat, holding below $2,000 per metric ton. The neodymium price didn’t move last week.
Closing above $1,000 per metric ton, Japanese steel plate remained unchanged for the week. Korean steel plate remained essentially flat from the previous week, between $950 and $1,000 per metric ton. US steel plate prices were off slightly, down $7 per metric ton from a week ago.
The price of US grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES) increased 2.3 percent at the end of last month. GOES prices are updated the third week of each month on the MetalMiner IndX℠.
