Air Products (NYSE:APD) has announced that its range of industrial gases and technologies will be featured at AISTech 2016 in Pittsburg, PA, from May 16–19. The company’s portfolio of gases and technologies are expected to help steelmakers reduce costs and improve productivity.
Air Products has been catering to the needs of the steel industry for several decades. The company has introduced several gases to make the production process cheaper and easier for steel producers over the years. The range of gases, technology, equipment and technical services, to be featured at the AISTech 2016 by Air Products, will reduce steelmakers’ carbon footprint, fuel expenditure and overall expenses. It will also optimize their production process and boost production.
Steel producers have been facing a challenging global environment. They remain focused on cutting costs and improving operational efficiency amid a still difficult operating environment.
Air Products will use the opportunity at the fair to provide further details and technical help to steel producers who can visit their booth to clear any doubts. In the past, the company’s technicians have helped players in the steel industry to enjoy cost savings in their combustion, shrouding and heat treating operations, among many others. Steelmakers can talk to the company’s representatives to discuss their daily production process and its challenges to receive possible solutions.
Air Products has a wide range of products to furnish a variety of needs of steel producers. Along with an extensive range of gases, from nitrogen to oxygen and argon to name a few, the company also provides customer specific supply options. While small volume consumers can opt for their microbulk solutions offer, CryoEase, to remove problems associated with cylinder handling, large volume users are provided with bulk liquid and gas supplies. The Air Products Express Services fulfills any emergency gas requirements by providing swift delivery options.
Air Products saw higher profits in the second quarter of fiscal 2016 (ended Mar 31, 2016), backed by restructuring and self-help measures. Adjusted earnings of $1.82 per share for the quarter beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate while revenues of $2,271.2 million missed the same. The company reported double-digit EPS growth for the seventh consecutive quarter.
Air Products expects earnings from continuing operations in third-quarter fiscal 2016 to be higher than the prior-year quarter by 13–16%. The company raised the earnings guidance for fiscal 2016 from $7.25–$7.50 to $7.40–$7.55 per share. However, the company lowered its capital expenditure guidance by $0.1 billion to $1.2 billion.
Air Products currently has a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold).
Some better-ranked companies in the chemical space include Akzo Nobel N.V. (OTC:AKZOY) , Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical Co. Ltd. (NYSE:SHI) and BASF SE (OTC:BASFY) , all sporting a Zacks Rank #1 (Strong Buy).
