Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.49%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4), which rose 8.16% or 1.13 points to trade at 14.97 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 5.85% or 0.60 points to end at 10.85 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was up 5.37% or 0.55 points to 10.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which fell 3.63% or 0.67 points to trade at 17.78 at the close. Fleury SA (SA:FLRY3) declined 2.02% or 0.57 points to end at 27.58 and Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4) was down 1.81% or 0.29 points to 15.71.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 270 to 172 and 35 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) rose to 3-years highs; up 8.16% or 1.13 to 14.97. Shares in Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 5.37% or 0.55 to 10.80.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.42% to 30.84.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.27% or 3.50 to $1322.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $63.59 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.21% or 1.50 to trade at $122.58 .
USD/BRL was down 0.42% to 3.2148, while EUR/BRL rose 0.32% to 3.8697.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 91.65.
